Laura is a Rutherford County native who grew up in the Lascassas community. She holds a J.D. with a business transactions concentration from the University of Tennessee College of Law and is licensed to practice law in Tennessee. Laura earned a Master’s Degree in Agricultural Communications from Texas Tech University and her Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture from Tennessee Tech University. She is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association and the American Agricultural Law Association and a 2020 graduate of Leadership Rutherford.
She joined Kious Rodgers Barger Holder & King following a two-year fellowship in the Governor’s Office. As a Governor’s Fellow, Laura served in the Department of Agriculture on agribusiness and rural development initiatives, including managing the Agriculture Enterprise Fund and supporting the Governor’s Rural Task Force. She also served in the Department of Environment and Conservation, where she worked in the Office of General Counsel and the Commissioner’s Office.
During school, Laura worked for the UT-Battelle Office of General Counsel at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Eastern District of Tennessee Suzanne Bauknight, U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander on the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee, the U.S. House Committee on Agriculture, Congressman Stephen Fincher, and the Tennessee Farm Bureau Public Affairs Division. She was also an AmeriCorps member.
Laura enjoys gardening, cooking and baking, reading, attending Sounds and Predators games, and traveling.
